Tips for successful vegetable planting in Autumn
Autumn offers delight to gardeners, with the summer heat easing, it is a time to tidy up the summer harvest of zucchini, tomatoes, beans, beetroot and more, and get started on your favourite autumn crops.
If you are planning the autumn planting you may be considering a range of vegetables including leafy greens like lettuce and spinach, root vegetables like carrots and beetroot, and brassicas like cabbage and broccoli.
What we love, at Stowaway Products, is to grow plants from seed, and transfer the seedlings into the garden when they are established, tucked up under a mesh cloche. The cloche helps shelter the plants from changeable weather and prevent the dreaded white butterfly from settling in. The young plants have a protected space, but it pays to still watch for snails!
As the plants get bigger you can change the type of cloche, and eventually ‘stow it away’ in the garden shed until your need row of seedlings are planted.
